About

Kelly Reedy’s artistic expression springs from her sensitivity to the numinous in the life within and around her. As a teen, she had hesitated between studying art or psychiatry. Yet when she finally decided on fine art, she was not choosing a profession, but acknowledging her way of life.

Constantly drawing as a child, this age-old activity helped her gain self-understanding and discover her place in the world. Although unaware for many years of the deeper reasons for her drive to create, she continued to work through experiences by incorporating artmaking into every stage of her development. Her curiosity about other peoples and cultures led her to travel the world. In her 20’s she studied and worked in Paris and NYC, where an early attraction to visual allegory was sparked by encountering Byzantine icons and Medieval art, coupled by a strong interest in Jungian archetypes. Her 30’s took her back to Europe via Germany and finally on to Singapore and Southeast Asia where she spent the next two decades assimilating the region’s rich traditional art practices and rituals into her life and work.

In 2017 Reedy came full circle in uniting her great love of art and psychology when she earned a master’s degree in the field of art psychotherapy. It is no surprise that what remains the most striking and constant in her large body of artwork is her continuous probing of the psyche and unconscious influences in her life, as well as our collective community. Reedy’s artwork reflects personal challenges and transitions; the universal rites of passage that each individual must face on their way to individuation.

Her way is her art.
